Hammersmith Police Station

Client: Wates (SES)

Type of work: Full Electrical package

Project Value: £1.7m

Duration: In progress

Project Brief:

The project is currently in progress but HES have been asked to carry out the refurb to the existing listed Police station along with two new build blocks.

Project Challenges:

This site is a listed building and is located on a very busy high street which will entail procurement issues. We have the task of installing modern day equipment to this building and cannot touch or alter the interior of the building to suit our programme of works.

Project Solution:

We’ve implemented reduced packaging for all materials and plant as well as roll-on roll-off deliveries as it will reduce the number of site deliveries. Recycling procedures have been key to this project to minimise the amount of waste. And we’re working closely with the client and design teams and constraints of the project.

The link is to do with the location of the site and it being on a very busy high street as access if a big problem.  We’ve tried to reduce the number of wholesaler deliveries by implement roll on roll off.  The delivery company will drop off what stock we need but will also take away any packaging/recycling and surplus materials during the same visit.

The existing police station will be completely overhauled and due to reopen Spring 2020.
